Call for ceasefire in government war on lettings sector

Yorkshire’s largest independent agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley, has doubled the number of rental homes it manages in the past 12 months.

The firm is expanding its lettings and property management services sector across North and West Yorkshire as a result of more landlords seeking expert guidance on the Renters Rights Act.

The growth follows the relaunch of Dacres’ lettings division two years ago, and the acquisition last spring of North Yorkshire agency Lister Haigh.

To support this expansion, Dacres has strengthened its rentals team and appointed two new lettings and property managers, with Deborah Saia joining in Bingley and the Aire Valley, and Rachel Fisher joining the Harrogate team to cover the town and North Yorkshire communities.

As a result, the division now has a seven-strong team of lettings and property management experts operating across North and West Yorkshire.

Patrick McCutcheon, head of residential at Dacres, says: “We’re seeing increasing numbers of landlords looking for expert support, particularly as legislation and compliance requirements continue to evolve following the recent introduction of the Renters Rights Act.

“At the same time, there remains very strong tenant demand for well-presented and professionally managed homes across Yorkshire’s key towns and villages.”

Founded more than 200 years ago, Dacre, Son & Hartley is Yorkshire’s largest independent agency, with 17 offices across North and West Yorkshire.

It also owns the Lister Haigh estate agency brand.
