Legal advice for letting agents on authorised signatories controversy

A former partner at a lettings agency who was jailed for harassing his ex-colleagues has now admitted seriously assaulting his ex-partner.

Gareth Wills of Penryn in Cornwall appeared at Truro Crown Court last week, facing a single charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against his former girlfriend on December 8, 2025.

Wills had been due to stand trial, but after being re‑arraigned in the dock he entered a guilty plea that was accepted by the prosecution.

In 2022 Wills, a co‑founder of the Lewis Haughton Wills agency with three branches in Cornwall, was jailed for two and a half years after harassing former colleagues and repeatedly breaching restraining orders.

He later appeared before magistrates in 2024 for breaching another restraining order and was fined, with a further order imposed banning him from contacting two people or commenting about them or a Falmouth gym online.
