mydeposits says tenants using its custodial deposit protection scheme have now donated some £500,000 to the Centrepoint homelessness charity.

The donations have been made through an interest donation option, which enables tenants to contribute the interest accrued on their protected deposits to Centrepoint at the end of their tenancy.

The past year has also seen colleagues from mydeposits and the wider HFIS group participate directly in Centrepoint activities.

Staff have also volunteered their time at Centrepoint accommodation services and fundraising initiatives throughout the year, helping to support young people experiencing homelessness.

Eddie Hooker, chief executive of mydeposits, says: “Reaching £500,000 in tenant donations is a humbling moment for us. It reflects thousands of individual decisions by tenants who wanted to help young people facing incredibly difficult circumstances.

“Seeing this level of support in just eighteen months is something we never expected.

“We are very proud of our partnership with Centrepoint, and this milestone shows what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose.

“We will keep building on this in 2026 because we know there is still so much more to be done.”
