LRG will complete the acquisition of the sales, lettings and holiday cottages businesses one of the south of England’s longest-established property brands on September 1.
The Henry Adams agency traces its origins to Wyatt & Son, founded in Chichester in 1826, and is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2026.
Since adopting the Henry Adams name in 1990, it has grown into a well-known and trusted property brand with 12 branches across Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.
This includes two franchise branches which LRG will retain under their existing franchise agreements.
Henry Adams will continue under its existing name with the existing leadership and local teams remaining in place.
A statement says the acquisition strengthens LRG’s presence across the south of England and provides a platform for the continued growth of the Henry Adams brand.
The deal forms part of LRG’s strategy to buy what it calls “high-quality regional property businesses” with opportunities for sustainable growth.
Matthew Light – Group Mergers & Acquisitions Director at LRG,m – comments: “Henry Adams is an exceptional regional business with a long and distinguished history … It’s a brand I have long admired for its reputation, built on strong local knowledge, long-standing client relationships, and a clear commitment to service, making it a very strong addition to LRG.
“We understand how important the Henry Adams name and identity are to its clients and its people.”
And Ian Wiggett – Managing Director at Henry Adams – comments: “As the shareholders considered the long-term future of Henry Adams, our priority was to find a partner that understood what makes the business special and recognised the importance of protecting its name, people and reputation.
“ … It will create new opportunities for the Henry Adams brand, as well as greater training, development and career progression for our people. This is an exciting next chapter for the business.”
Henry Adams Fine Art, Land and Planning, Rural, Valuations and Commercial teams will remain separate from the LRG business and are not part of the acquisition.
