Three members of agency group My Property Box have raised £1,766 for Macmillan Cancer Support after completing a 26-mile Mighty Hike in the Lake District.

Marie Wilmot, Polly Scaife and Murray Brock circled Ullswater, England’s second-largest lake, taking in picturesque lakeside trails as well as the climb over the 1,578ft Gowbarrow Fell.

Polly says: “The last eight miles were definitely the hardest. By then my legs were feeling numb, but we kept each other going and just focused on reaching the finish – and it was an amazing feeling when we did!”

Murray adds: “The hardest part of the day was definitely having to get up at 5am! Despite everything, it was a brilliant experience and one I’d recommend to anyone – even if they choose the shorter 12.5-mile Mighty Hike.”

Marie took part in memory of her brother-in-law, Jim, who died from an aggressive blood cancer just a month before her wedding last year, and had been due to be the best man. She says: “We wanted to do something positive in Jim’s memory. Taking part in the Mighty Hike felt like a fitting way to support Macmillan and help other families affected by cancer.

Macmillan’s Mighty Hikes take place across some of the UK’s most spectacular landscapes, with every pound raised helping the charity provide practical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer.
