Its hard to understand why these surveys produce such outcomes. Bank of England Figures shows the level of personal debt reducing at a rate not seem for over a decade. Universal Credit has been increased by £86 per month and furlough payments are at worst 80% of the basic wage. To offset, this 20% shortfall, again BoE figures show that disposable household income again is increasing each month due to savings made from working from home. I guess it depends whom you ask but its illogical to make the conclusion that because 38 million people have experienced some fall in income that £25 Billion of rent arrears & additional borrowings have accrued. ( the Current UK working population of FT and Self employed is around 32 million) With regard to the 1.8m people in severe debt; to put that into perspective it's represents less than 2.6% of the population
