Government need to worry about the health and safety of sleeping on the beach or in the park., because thousands that are housed now will end up homeless ... a park bench wont come with epc. Many more will be homeless as Landlords close up or become more picky. Serve them right, due to stupid laws and the sector's legal robbery by both tenants and Councils.

Yes, the licence also renders Landlords responsible for their tenants' anti social behaviour and we can't even evict them when needed. The licence conditions dictate Instead that we get a hefty fine! Because we bought a licence. The joke is on us every time.

This sounds promising. The initial dispute mediation service out forward by the government are asking £500 up front and the offending tenant pays nothing and will have no motivation to comply or pay arrears it seems..

Eviction ban continuing ? Landlords are the only sector that has no aid from government to deal with: unruly tenants and cash shortages due to rent losses. Payment holidays must be repaid ... or the lenders WILL be able to take possession. Payment holidays are also frowned upon by lenders considering remortgage loans. Whilst landlords have very weak means to recoup rent losses, banks are very certain of their re-possession powers if mortgage debt is not repaid.. Unruly, non-paying tenants should be aware that their "home" did not come free for their landlord. Food at M&S and Asda shops is not free. If you trash M&S you are jailed. Why are landlords forced to become charities ? Governments are responsible for curtailing homelessness. Governments need to take responsibility for paying rents (or at least 80% of rents) direct to landlords. This alone would avoid homelessness and repossessions by lenders. Being a majority , governments simply want tenants votes at the expense of landlords. But just look at the yobbish behaviour of the "gimmee gimmee gimmee" drug and booze bound generations on the news media every day in this crisis. Landlords MUST protect who???

Mortgage holiday is not something that is free. Missed payments are added on to what we owe. We must pay them back unlike grants and furloughs that everyone else gets. If you dont or cant pay your rent how can I pay my mortgage? We cant evict you but If we all get repossessed for being un debt I guarantee you will be evicted by the banks.- no mercy.

Should landlords just let their rental homes be repossessed by their banks then? Or shut down by the Council because they cant pay for repairs and safety needs?

No rent paid equals no mortgage paid = bankruptcy at the banks. Waive the rents Then waive the mortgages. No more btl mortgages = no more homes for renters. Renters need to be educated. Nothing is for free.

My thoughts exactly The help line is a plus but all the NLA actually did was teach us the government rules to avoid fines - and charge us for the education. Which education was mostly scaremongering tactics. Lets hope with its new expanded force, RNLA will actually stop trying to force conformity to the imbalanced tenant pleasing vote seeking Houses of Parliament. Otherwise - all of my lets will have LIVE IN landlords to facilitate any necessary evictions rapidly and without contest - legally .

Yes, defaulting tenants need to be OUT. This wont be the governments stance - they want to keep homeless figures down, keep them off the streets, they want tenants votes, they want to shove all responsibility for their failings re housing provision onto us ... but they want total authoritarian rule over we landlords. We are the easiest group to control. We are a minority group. We need a way of fighting back, like students do, like workers unions do, like even pensioners did when they were being financially pushed to the limit many years ago. It seems landlords just are sitting targets to be bled and controlled and held responsible when this virus problem is over we should have a countrywide MASS EVICTION DAY as protest. We cant seem to do anything as a group to take the government to task except grovel. Housing is as important as food and warmth but landlords are just

Yes the void for landlords might harm any further lending application. But this is unfair since tenants who dont really need to can get away with it - and no-one will care if we cant get the payment voids back from them. Landlords get it in the neck every time.

Tenants are a majority population, leaders want their votes.. We landlords will have to fork the bill yet again. I guaeantee we wont get oyr rents back - and corona fall out will be exempt from Court proceedings WE landlords have no voice. Its time we stood as one and together, promised a MASS EVICTION DAY when this is over and 3 million tenants owe 6 months rent.

Yes Landlords have been forced to be "social" landlords. The Council estates have mostly been sold and responsibility for the lives of the irresponsible - whom the government have themselves created - has been shifted to us. We have to house them, tolerate bad behaviour and support them through - since THEY are vulnerable . The word "landlord" should be changed to "key giver".

Steve we down here would not get away with it. The rules are very strict. We must get a court order and put up with the abuse....much as it is ridiculous and unfair.. the law favours the tenant, who can legally get away with it. I know!
