'This will encourage landlords to engage with their tenants prior to court action' - when tenants are not paying rent it is they who avoid engaging, not the landlords. It is tenants who lie, avoid and pretend. The whole narrative of 'rogue landlords' is so overused and assumes that majority of landlords are rogue and majority of tenants are honest individuals. That is not statistically or realistically even possible. This government is a disgrace for dumping rogue tenants on decent landlords who are jobless and struggling.
