I'd get rid of mine if I could afford to. I - like most other small LLs can't. That's why we rent.

I totally agree. Having just had two electrical reports carried out with completely different tick boxes I am totally sceptical of these reports - and lets be honest - how many electrical faults really happen in a home? Very few. Of my two reports - one said the whole house needs rewiring - the other report passed on this bit! Classic case of being ripped off. Let property developers pay for this rubbish and leave us private landlords who can only just make ends meet, out of it. I am completely cynical now that two electricians (one from a big company) can't even agree on what needs to be done.

I have just had TWO EICRs carried out on the same property. Both failed. Both failed however at different places. Where the first one failed the second one passed and where the second one failed, the first one passed. So I am now completely sceptical as to this whole thing. No problems in the house for over 50 years - house had an EICR which passed with some adjustments 5 years ago. I think electricians are having a field day ripping people off. Fine if you are a property developer with tons of money to throw away - but someone with only one property that they need to pay their mortgage or rent, it is an absolute nightmare. So no, I don't agree with this EICR. I would if it were honest. But clearly it is not.
