Madness, absolute madness. I personally discovered two families last year who were not legal in the country, one of the families offered me a large sum of money to help them move, the other was in the local paper for running a brothel. We must keep the Right to Rent scheme open, if you were to ask any agent in any town I would say they would be more than happy to keep it going to protect our landlords.

After being in the lettings industry for many years now I would say that this is a good thing for tenants. It's not that they're more important than buyers at all. I have witnessed many landlords that will try and cut corners with their investment properties and bring in a "handy man" to do the wiring instead of a qualified professional. On the back of this I have seen a few properties literally go up in smoke because of this. Home owners will tend to be more in the mind set, especially with children, to always bring in a professional, I would think..... The government is making it harder and harder for landlords but on a whole anything to do with safety can only be a good thing.

Government bans tenant fees. Agents increase landlord fees. Landlords raise the rent to cover losses (some not making very much as it is) Tenants end up paying more in the long term. Should have regulated how much agents can charge.

I fear this is a big mistake for Leaders/Romans. My current agency also uses Spark and I'm unsure I have heard anything positive from them in four years. Impossible to get hold of and very expensive too.
