Whenever a Government interfers in a market it never considers "unintended consequences" Watch this space as rents rise and availability dries up.

Having a good time are you ARLA, backing everyone as usual. except the agents and members who pay you? Would be nice to see a bit more visual attention and backing for them and their own problems.

Agree with both of the above. NFOPP/NAEA/ARLA/PROPERTYMARK members should realise that since the introduction of propertymark (without reasonable notice} confirms that their 'trade body' no longer represents their interests - it is a consumer protection organisation - using their subscriptions.

What is fraudulent about interest only without a 'repayment vehicle' if the Lender is satisfied with the arrangement?

@Julian Bishop. I was a member of ARLA and the NAEA for many years and ever since they became part of the NFoPP they have done very little for and on behalf of the practical problems faced by its paying members. Paid for training, yes. After that nothing much, they have become part of the 'establishment'

Graham Norwood. 'Young was an original founder of Intercounty' This is not quite accurate. To the best of my memory the name Intercounty was created and the company founded and traded c1988 by an independent agent in Royston Hertfordshire for grouping other independents in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex together but retaining their own names, ownership and independence. Linked however to the name Intercounty as a marketing venture (similar to Black Horse). This company name was later sold to an agency in Bishop Stortford from where, as the market improved later in the 1990's, it successfully expanded.

Has anyone else noticed the type of names that the majority of reported rogue landlord have - is it a cultural thing that has been imported into this country?

This sort of 'council run' scheme will only penalise those who stay within the law already. Crooks will ignore it, as with so much else. I predict that the way things are going within 5 years the PRS will shrink by a considerable amount.

Sounds too good to be true? That is because it is. 1. Just another income stream for the councils. 2. The cost? 3. In practice what will it achieve? 4. There is more than enough legislation already - not enforced. 5. The reasons given are utter nonsense!

There is nothing to 'get'. Much legislation is already in place but not adequately enforced. In my view this kind of MP choose what they perceive is a easy target to be seen to be doing 'something' mainly to make a 'name' for themselves.

Could it be that the one who doesn't know what is going on is Creasy herself. Many MP's jump on easy targets, that they do not fully understand, for the publicity of being seen to be doing 'something'?

If a landlord produces the Inventory & Schedule of Condition instead of using an independent professional any disputes at the end of the tenancy could result in the Inventory being seen as possibly biased.
