We speak to Rajeev Nayyar from Fixflo

Interview by Lee Dahill, Angels Media

Q: What does it say on your business card?

Rajeev Nayyar, Director, Fixflo

Q: What is Fixflo?

During a tenancy reactive repairs are the most common touch point between tenants, property managers and their clients.  Unfortunately they also can be a source of frustration for everyone involved.

Fixflo helps to smooth the repairs process, to save property managers time and money, to provide a great automated customer experience for tenants and to provide property managers with a positive touch point with clients when the works have been completed.

Fixflo is based around a picture based repair reporting tool and a streamlined workflow that keeps property managers at the heart of the process.

The best way to understand how Fixflo works is to visit our website: www.fixflo.com

Q: How long have Fixflo been trading?

Property managers have used Fixflo since January and we formally launched at the Guild of Letting and Management conference in May.  It was important to us that the system had been rigorously tested and was completely robust before we exposed it to the wider market.

Q: How did it all start?

I found repairs frustrating both as a tenant and as a landlord.  From speaking with property managers I found that things were no better from their side, particularly when they felt that they were bearing the brunt of tenant frustrations despite doing everything right.

We spent months interviewing property managers, tenants, contractors and landlords to really understand their needs before we started to build Fixflo.

Q: Why choose Fixflo?

By using Fixflo you can provide tenants with a great customer experience with less effort than you currently spend on calls and emails.

It is also a powerful marketing tool to attract new clients and it helps your property management team to be more efficient.  By using Fixflo, property managers are freed to spend their time fixing problems rather than spending their time trying to understand what has gone wrong and dealing with chasing calls from tenants.

Q: What are your three unique selling points?

Fixflo allows you to get the right information with the right level of detail from tenants when something goes wrong.

Fixflo automatically updates tenants as their issue is resolved.  This means that they are less frustrated and you have fewer chasing calls to deal with.

Fixflo provides you with an audit trail so that if you have acted correctly to resolve a repair you can more easily show that to tenants, to your clients and, if required, to a case examiner if there is a deposit dispute.

Q: How quickly is Fixflo growing?

Since launch we are having about 2 new customers sign up per day.  These customers range from independents to national chains/franchises.

Q: How do you overcome your competitors?

We see Fixflo as being an enhancement to other property software offerings.  We are currently integrating Fixflo into other leading software systems.

If you have an existing property management software system and believe that Fixflo would enhance your existing processes please ask your software provider to get in touch with us.

Q: How do you create value for your clients (how do you go above the call of duty)?

We want our clients to look great to their clients, prospective clients and tenants.

For that reason we have “white labelled” Fixflo so that it appears to be part of our client’s website.  We have also built in functionality so that our clients have an advantage when it comes to securing instructions by being able to reassure their clients that their asset will be better protected around the clock.

Q: What is your greatest achievement and what made it so special?

We won a Shell LiveWIRE entrepreneurship award in January.  Aside from great support and publicity from the Shell team it really vindicated what we were doing.  I had given up a secure job as a property lawyer and my business partner was the former CTO of Friends Reunited.  The award (which was in part based on a public vote) reassured us that we were hitting a real need.

Q: What do you feel it takes to be successful in the industry?

Property management is fast paced and it can be highly pressurised.  To be a successful software provider you really have to care about the needs of your clients, to be responsive and to be completely reliable as your clients depend on you.

Q: Are you offering any special promotions?

We are offering clients who sign up by 1 July 2013 a free no obligation 30 day trial and 50% off our standard subscription prices.  The discount is locked in for 2 years and with the discount prices start from £50 per calendar month for up to 150 properties under management.

To take advantage of the free trial please enter the voucher code LAT230 as part of the set-up process.
