The Office for National Statistics has reported that in the 12 months to August 2013 rents paid by tenants rose by 1.2%.

Private rents in Great Britain excluding London rose by 0.8% during the same period. In London, rents rose by 1.9% and in the south-east by 1.1%.

The ONS’s Index of Private Housing Rental Prices “measures the change in price of renting residential properties from private landlords” while not actually giving any actual rent prices themselves.
