The latest figures from internet traffic analyst comScore show that Rightmove is continuing to maintain its domination in the property portal stakes.
The figures are also remarkable for showing that newcomer PropertyIndex has leapfrogged up the rankings ahead of Globrix, also for revealing the popularity of house price websites, and for highlighting the failure of private house sale websites to make a dent.
Only three agent-free specialist websites, Spare Room and Easyroommate and www.moveonin.com – which find tenants and roommates ¬– are listed.
The new comScore figures for the property websites in November show Rightmove easily in first place, followed by FindaProperty, Propertyfinder and Primelocation.
No surprises there, but mystifyingly, behind the top four most visited sites, comes an Australian portal, sister to Propertyfinder. This could suggest that an enormous number of Brits are interested in a new life down under, but other explanations are welcome.
However, it’s worth pointing out that in 17th place comes a website for Dubai property, and in 24th, an international portal.
In sixth place comes the first of the free listings sites, Nestoria, followed by Vebra, placed well above its consumer-facing portal, Thinkproperty.
Homes and Property, the London Evening Standard’s site, comes in at eight, followed by Trovit, a classified type of portal, whose name is nowhere near as well known as Fish4homes but which it beats into 22nd place.
Two house price websites follow, with Core’s HomesOnView in 12th place and another house price site, Zoopla, in 13th place. This is followed by UK Property Shop, which describes itself as the national directory of estate agents.
The biggest winner appears to be PropertyIndex, launched only last September, and which only two months later appears in 15th place, ahead of Globrix at 21.
PropertyIndec chief executive Lee Bramzell said he was delighted: “We’ve had an incredible response to our ‘no lead, no fee’ business approach, with over 4,500 UK estate agents joining.
“Industry insights such as the comScore figures are invaluable to new portals and will no doubt send a clear message to all estate agents and developers planning how best to market their properties for sale and rent in 2009.”
The top estate agents’ own-site is Foxtons, followed by Your Move
