Sorbet is the refreshing way for letting agents to organise maintenance inspections

Letting agents and property managers will soon have a new way to coordinate maintenance reports and inspections, thanks to a refreshing software platform called Sorbet.

The proptech innovation is the brainchild of former contractor Brooke Williams, who believed there had to be a better way for agents, landlords, tenants and contractors to communicate, and so came up with the idea for Sorbet.

Sorbet’s software helps with transparency, accuracy and audit trails for the rental market. Letting agents, landlords, tenants and contractors are able to raise and monitor maintenance requests and jobs through the platform.

Brooke Williams teamed up with former Director of Dezrez Richard Wilson to set up the company, and has also recruited Kevin Hughes, the fomer Marketing and Finance Director of Gocompare.com, as a non-exec director.

Brooke explained the thinking behind Sorbet: “Co-ordinating maintenance appointments and chasing reports for lots of properties can be a real headache for letting agents, I know, I’ve been there. Juggling landlords, tenants and contractors whilst keeping a detailed audit trail is tricky and cumbersome. That’s why we created Sorbet.

“Sorbet is a helpful software assistant for letting agents and property managers that will track the communication between the agent, contractors, landlords and tenants – automatically booking contractors when reports and inspections are due, or deal with tenant maintenance requests without the agent having to do a thing.”

The software has been designed for ease of use for all parties, keeping everyone in the rental chain in the loop in a quick and easy way. Tenants use Sorbet’s dedicated Tenant App to report issues, and the software automatically chooses one of the agents’s approved contractors to do the work.

When a contractor has completed an inspection, they can use Sorbet’s dedicated Contractor App to let the agent and the tenant know. Sorbet also keeps a full audit trail of all communications between an agent’s team, contractors and tenants, so everyone knows the status of jobs. No more chasing for updates or disputes over what was agreed and that all important paperwork. All Sorbet paperwork is cloud stored, so agents no longer have to deal with reams of paper, and when a house is sold, the landlord can pass all inspection reports over in one data transfer.

Sorbet is offering a six-month free trial as part of its beta launch programme. Agents who take up the programme will be able to offer the Sorbet apps to their contractors and tenants completely free. All of Sorbet’s apps communicate with each other, so agents will never be left out of the loop.
