An E-petition has been set up urging Waltham Forest council to drop its landlord licensing scheme or review its rules.

The petition has been set up jointly by Churchill Estates, a local agency which has been active for 35 years, and local landlords who are against the idea.

Waltham Forest's licensing scheme is one of many around the country criticised by industry professionals as being the wrong tool to root out rogue landlords and anti-social tenants - the reasons stated by the authority to justify the measure.

We are asking for your support too by signing the E-petition says a statement from its creators. Nobody wants rogue landlords. Professional landlords don't want them as it gives them a bad name and professional letting agents won't touch them. But the scheme by Waltham Forest is not the correct one to root out these rogue landlords they say.
