Three Edinburgh property companies have come together to create the biggest letting agency in the Scottish capital.

Braemore Property Management, James Gibb and Alba Residential, which were acquired by property management company Lomond Capital in 2010, 2012 and 2013 respectively, have just officially relaunched as Braemore.

The new firm has 70 staff working at two branches in the city and is responsible for managing over 6,000 tenants and 3,000 properties.

Malcolm Cannon, chief executive of the new firm, says he and his company are unashamedly campaigning for tighter regulation and enforceable legislation to improve the private rented sector.

The lettings industry has billions of pounds of assets under its management and yet regulatory controls are voluntary, not compulsory. There needs to be more and tighter regulation if we are to continue to raise standards and give landlords the protection and service they should expect. We will champion new legislation that supports professional operators and improves the reputation and status of the industry, says Cannon.
