Valerie Bannister is taking over as president of ARLA as the hunt continues for a successor to the association's outgoing managing director Ian Potter.

Bannister has been hugely successful in her role as national property director at Your Move. She has been an ARLA regional rep for Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Wiltshire and Dorset since March 2012 and vice president on the ARLA board since June 2012.

In the 2011 Property Awards for Women she won the Outstanding Commitment to Excellence award.

Meanwhile an announcement is expected soon to confirm the new managing director of ARLA following the imminent retirement of Ian Potter in six weeks' time.

The association is using recruitment consultancy Property Personnel to find someone to fill the role, which is describes as predominately outward-facing, with the responsibility for liaising externally with ARLA stakeholders and its extensive membership across the UK as well as being responsible for increasing membership, acting as ARLA's main expert industry spokesperson in the media and will also being the principal representative for interactions with government and other industry organisations.

Interest in this site (and EAT) has gone downhill since 'the change', just look at the number of '0' comments on most items. It is now not much more than an a selective advertising page.

David Cox's LinkedIn profile lists his role as ARLA MD Designate, and he also spoke at the ARLA conference last week...

Poor Dave. Sacked by LAT before he's even taken the job properly!

I wish both all the best. I haven't met David, but know VB well. She will be superb in the role. I know how tenacious and professional she is and think she will be a huge asset to ARLA.

Perhaps David Cox has changed his mind Does he know that ARLA is still looking for a new MD I think we should be told.

I knew this site had gone downhill recently but this has taken it to a new level. The new ARLA MD David Cox has been in place and shadowing Ian for some months. In fact i am sure it was reported on this site.
