What is Right to Rent
Recent changes to the Immigration Act 2014 mean that in the not too distant future after the trial period ends, all private landlords will have a legal obligation to carry out 'Right to Rent' checks. The new law will mean private landlords or their nominated letting agent will have to determine if the potential tenant has a right to live in the UKif they want to avoid potentially being fined up to £3,000.
The legislation also protects tenants with regard to the property they're renting. It gives them the peace of mind that they are secure in their new property and won't find themselves at risk of eviction.
