In response to the recent emergence of a number of ethical' estate agents, Joe Nicholson of Adore Cardiff, an ethical lettings agency based in the Welsh capital, explains how his firm aims to be a truly ethical agency'.
When I first became a letting agent, my grandfather said with great fanfare; Congratulations! You are now more hated than the bankers. This little quip stayed with me - why are letting agents broadly derided and even despised Due to a small minority of rogue agents, hidden fees, dishonesty and poor customer service are just some of the things associated with our profession, and unfortunately the list goes on and on.
So when I was given the chance to work for a truly ethical agency I jumped at the chance. Adore Cardiff is owned by Taff Housing Association, a highly reputable social landlord in Cardiff. When there is talk of ethics, the rhetoric starts to flow but with Adore Cardiff, being part of a Housing Association simply means that ALL profits made are re-invested into the local community through the Association. That's a pretty good place to start in ensuring an ethical approach.
If ours is supporting the local community, our means must be to satisfy our customers, for it is not enough to simply rely on a feel good element from giving back.
