For the second month running, rental growth in London has outstripped the rest of the country according to data released today by Countrywide.
While the rate of rental growth across the UK for January remains the same as in December, stabilising rents in central London alongside rises everywhere else in the capital have pushed Greater London’s rental growth to its highest level in 22 months.
Countrywide says that UK-wide the average cost of a new let last month rose 2.4 per cent from last year.
It says that while rental growth has accelerated in the capital, growth has slowed in the south east and south west as well as Scotland.
The north east was the only region to see actual rent falls last month, the agency says.
