Interesting to see the new ARLA slip designed to be attached to lettings boards.
The slip, shown here in Savills colours, certainly looks impressive. And just the thing to push the message about ARLA licensed agents. No wonder that as many ARLA members as possible are being actively encouraged to use it.
Just one small glitch: the problem with slips is that technically, they breach the Town & Country Planning Act. Oops!
That is because they push the size of the board to over the 0.5sq.m advertising area allowed in the Act – and the size to which all boards are made.
Plenty of agents have had their wrists slapped for attaching slips such as ‘Similar properties required’ or ‘Sole Agent’.
Let’s hope that no one will be told off for advertising the fact that they’re an ARLA licensed agent!

Suggest everyone read the latest edition of PROPERTYdrum. Interviews of the top knobs of NAEA & ARLA gives a good insight as to their attitude and complacency toward criticism. Prominence is given to a reference from a member to 'fuddy duddies' (experienced members?) to justify some actions being taken.
There is a problem.
Yeah Bob - it may be the agents look out, but you would have thought a regulator may have pointed out the regulations!!
Not a great week for ARLA really.
Bob - how many agents have boards smaller than the maximum size? Are you seriously expecting agents to have all their lettings boards reprinted?
Did ARLA offer a warning to check or simply encourage the use of their extra slips?
How many agents even consider this fact - most don't even know. Frankly LAT has done them a favour. Try working in Kensington & Chelsea and you would realise the jobsworths who would love this to raise revenue. We even got fined for printing on the post holding the board up on the grounds the advertising area was exceeded!!!!
Why is this a slip from ARLA?
Its down to the agent for the size of the board.
Another slip from this poor tabloid-esq rag of an email.
print some interesting articles!
Funnily enough, our operations director pointed this out at the time. Not all councils would take issue with it - but of the London ones definitely would.
HAHAHAHAHA - brilliant!
