As head of social media at Angels Media, I am delighted to introduce my first in a series of blogs on how to use social media to benefit your agency. Over the coming weeks I hope to share with you what I have spent some time learning.

I want to help you to use social media to catapult your agency to online marketing success. Welcome to the journey!

I believe it is important to keep up with the times and not be left behind.

A few years ago, advertising in local newspapers and delivering flyers were deemed effective marketing tools for estate agents. However, rapid changes in technology mean that agents must either adapt to the new technology or risk losing out to their rivals.

This is particularly true in the realm of social media, which could become one of the most fruitful ways to attract vendors and landlords.

Contrary to what some sceptics may say, my belief is that social media isn’t a fad; it’s a fundamental shift in the way we communicate.

Listing your agency on social media will be beneficial in the following ways:

It will boost Search Engine Optimisation

Social Media sites such as Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook are highly optimised websites in themselves. Therefore, placing your agency on these sites has considerable benefits for your website’s search engine ranking. This is particularly true when people are conducting searches in your local area.

Building your database

Many people will visit an agent’s website but then leave the site without ever providing their details. By adding social media buttons that invite visitors to ‘like’/’follow’ the agency, you have a way to ‘build a list’ of people to communicate with on a regular basis.

Networking and building relationships

Social media is a powerful relationship-building tool. Many consumers no longer trust advertising. Others find traditional means of communication too informal. Social media allows your agency to become part of the local community by entering into casual conversation with those in your target market who are local to your agency.

Generating leads

It is my belief that the casual conversations mentioned above, combined with daily content creation, mixing property listings with real advice and commentary, should mean that your agency will benefit from more leads.

For some great marketing tips, be sure to watch this space for regular social media articles over the next few months.

It is clear that social networks are the present. We carry more than two years working them. We have Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Flickr, Pinterest and Tublr.

I recommend hiring a community manager that will manage the. Not so easy if you want to get good results.
