Countrywide Residential Lettings has started a graduate recruitment drive with the launch of a graduate management programme.

With places for 12 graduates, the trainees will learn how to develop their own lettings teams. Each will have their own dedicated mentor for the duration of the two-year course, and be paid a basic salary of £18,000 during the programme.

Nick Dunning, group commercial director at Countrywide, said: “We are pleased to launch our inaugural graduate management programme as we recognise that the success of our lettings business is built on our commitment to excellence and the calibre of our people.

“We aim to recruit individuals who will play an important role in our future success and we welcome the opportunity to grow our specialist teams through this programme.”

Applications from graduates are being sought on the Countrywide website.

Successful graduates prove that they can learn, and have the desire to learn and succeed. The graduate scheme shows Countrywide are planning for the future, and want to employ the cream of the crop to ensure the future success of the business.

Current employees need to fear their position, just the ones that are stagmenting in their current positiona and have no prospects.

Sounds like a great idea, however, what will these graduate have a degree in? I fail to see how a chemistry degree will set you in good stead for a career in lettings! Shorly a property law or housing degree would be a start, but personally, if these grads aspired to be letting agents, they would have got a junior job in their local office after college rather than get their head in books for a non related degree.

4-5 year learning from the ground up must be better than any fast track scheme with a mentor who may not know all he/she should to start with

Have you tried going to Countrywide's website and then having been directed to its recruitment page it then goes via Property Direct, and it all comes to a halt?

    Remind you of anything?

Good idea and they can then continue to offer a rap (with a silent C) no experience service and all us EXPERIENCED ones can cream off their failures.

Keep up the good work guys!

    Food for thought.......

Nothing against this scheme. However, any experienced good existing non-grsduste lettings office manager, who has designs on progressing high up the ladder", should possibly consider their position?
