It should take his mind off the Superstrike case – and good luck to Kevin Firth, boss of the Deposit Protection Service, who is off to Africa to take part in an endurance 340-mile cycle ride to raise £20,000 for good causes.

Firth, who has never seriously cycled before in his life and can normally think of very good reasons for not going near a gym, is taking part in the Change A Life Cycle Tour in early September.

The Change A Life Mike Thomson Trust was set up after the murder of one of Computershare’s senior managers in his Johannesburg home, and is dedicated to a peaceful future for all South Africans. Computershare owns the DPS.

We will let you know how Firth gets on.
