One of the lettings industry’s highest flyers has been appointed to a key role at East Village, the former Athletes’ Village on the London Olympics site.
East Village is being transformed to become a major private rental hotspot when the first homes are ready this year, and Liz McCallum has been appointed director of lettings by the owners of the site, Get Living London.
McCallum has previously worked for Grainger Plc where she was responsible for best practice and risk management within all Grainger AST letting transactions. This included the appointment and performance monitoring of the appointed letting agents and tenant relationships.
Prior to Grainger, she worked as agency director for Allsop & Co and has also been managing director of residential lettings for John D Wood.
McCallum said: “Get Living London is a breath of fresh air in the London rental market and I am looking forward to bringing my experience of London lettings to this innovative and ambitious company.
“The chance to provide a totally new way of renting at the much-anticipated East Village, a totally new neighbourhood for London, is a once in a generation opportunity.”
Derek Gorman, chief executive of Get Living London added: “This is a very important hire for the company. We are delivering a totally new way of renting in London and we will benefit from Liz’s specific experience and in-depth insights into lettings as we bring our East Village homes to market in the coming months.”
Get Living London has said it will charge private tenants no fees whatever, only their rents, and will also offer tenants longer agreements, up to three years. The company will let directly to tenants and manage the properties itself – cutting out agents.
The first Get Living London residents will be able to move into East Village from late summer. No idea as to rents has yet been given. There will be a total of 2,818 homes in the scheme.
