CFP Software, part of Guardian Media Group, is the latest industry supplier to offer its support to SAFEagent.

Mark Goddard, managing director of CFP, said: “We’re delighted to throw our support behind this campaign and will be looking to raise awareness among our clients that the SAFEagent mark is an essential requirement for all professional lettings and management agents.

“The mark represents integrity and protection for landlords’ and tenants’ money and we are pleased to be in the vanguard that will rid the sector of unscrupulous agents.

“This, along with our recent accreditation renewal from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), should give all our clients extreme confidence in our software products and the services we provide.”

CFPwinMan is the most widely used lettings and property management software package across the UK and is installed in over 3,000 businesses, with tens of thousands of users. It is the first, and currently remains the only, property management software to be accredited by the ICAEW.

Nick Cooper, managing director of Northwood and chair of the SAFEagent steering group, said: “Consumers want and deserve protection, and SAFEagent does just that.

“We’re delighted that CFP is willing to support the campaign.”

@adele I have taken my properties away from my managing agent who was a CFPwinman user.
The "Period Statement" did not tally with the monthly statements they sent me, had I relied on the figures provided by the agent my SA105 would have been wrong (I would have paid too much tax). I went through my account history with the agent, it was not user input error, the system was wrong. All the support manager could say was "Whoops, we can't have tested that bit."

If CFP is a "life saver" I am very glad you are not my agent! The fact you are so grateful and reliant on a system that can not add up 2 strings of identical figures to give a single result is very worrying, it justifies the need for Safe Agent. Lets hope SA take a long, in depth look at all of the software systems before rubber stamping them as fit for purpose.

Well done to the team who are attempting to get this off the ground.

I really hope it takes off and it clearly only really will happen with backing so well done CFP, Homelet and everyone else who has shown their support.

CFP is a great system, really easy to use and has been a life saver for me. I get regular updates when i want them and the support and training is the best I have come across.
it is good to see this initiative being support by many of the big names in the industry not just CFP - hopefully it will work and have the desired affect

Is an understanding of the concept enough? Mr Goddard appears no to be the head of a firm that has a major problem due to the size of the user base. With 3000 + customers as the report states it is impossible to update the users to the latest version in anything like a timeframe tthat suits all the users. If 200 users are updated each week it takes a full 15 weeks to fix bugs and get all users onto the new version. An insider tells me that the reality is nearer 50 per week.

Legacy in software is another major problem a 20 year development program without a grond up re-write means that there is still ancient coding and routines which will cause issues.

This post is bound to be deleted as are any post which questions the integrity of CFP so before you applaud Mr Goddard as a Saint look a bit deeper into the underlying isses with client cash accounting and understand that it is a case that some rogue agents are the victims of purchasing a system which promises to keep them compliant with this that and the other, when in fact it will not..
