The tenancy deposit scheme launched by the National Landlords Association now has more agent members than the scheme launched by ARLA, it has been claimed.

Writing on LAT (see today’s top blog), Mydeposits chief executive Eddie Hooker says that 60% of the scheme’s business now comes from agents, with more than 30 new businesses joining each month.

For the first time, the scheme also makes reference to the SAFEagent initiative.

Hooker writes that landlords and tenants have a ‘responsibility’ to ensure they choose a SAFEagent member so that client money protection is in place, which can pay out if the insurance-backed deposit schemes do not for some reason.

It’s well worth reading – and the blog would also be a useful training aid for new recruits into lettings.
