The OFT’s decision to withdraw its logos from The Property Ombudsman scheme was so sudden that even TPO was caught on the hop.
Ombudsman Christopher Hamer today reveals that his organisation had just ordered a year’s supply of stationery complete with OFT logos when the OFT gave an abrupt two-months’ notice that the logos could no longer be used.
Hamer also reveals that the lion’s share of his work (60%) now stems from complaints about letting agents.
Last year, prior to the Advertising Standards Authority’s ruling on letting agent fees to tenants having to be displayed upfront, some 20% of his workload came from complaints about fees.
However, almost all the complaints were from landlords and not tenants.
