Daniel Burton, who ran a high-profile rent-to-rent business which suddenly shut down owing money, is to stay on as a franchisee of Whitegates in Scunthorpe.

Burton had not been working in the office, part of the Legal & General brand Xperience, during an investigation into events.

Burton, 25, claimed to have let out 200 rooms in 40 properties and to be making £35,000 a month in properties he rented but did not own. He also ran seminars advising others how to do it.

However, his business apparently shut down suddenly, allegedly owing people money.

Burton vowed on his Unida Place website to repay the missing tenancy deposits.

Unida Place earned scathing comments on allAgents.

However, a spokesperson for Legal & General has now said: “I can confirm that we have concluded our investigations.

“We are happy with Daniel Burton’s conduct in relation to Whitegates, and we will continue to be monitoring the branch very closely to uphold the highest standards;
