Compulsory tenancy deposit protection becomes mandatory in Northern Ireland on April 1.

The three approved schemes currently operational in England and Wales have all this week announced that they have won approval.

The Letting Protection Service Northern Ireland, run by the same company that runs the DPS, will be offering both a custodial and an insured scheme.

Mydeposits, launched by the National Landlords Assocition, will also be running an approved scheme in Northern Ireland. It, too, will be offering both custodial and insured options.

The Tenancy Deposit Scheme, originally launched by ARLA, is the third to have won approval, and will again be offering both custodial and insured options.

All three also run schemes in Scotland, where only custodial schemes are permitted.
