Agency claims record rental figure for seven bedroom mansion

An agency is claiming a record for the sum at which it is letting a seven bedroom property in north London.

Aston Chase says it’s let a 14,530 square foot mansion on the prestigious Bishops Avenue for some £80,000 pcm - the equivalent of almost £1m for a year. It says this is a record for this area of London.

The property may be familiar to many - it’s been used in both 2022 and 2023 editions of The Apprentice and has featured on Channel 4’s series Britain’s Most Expensive Houses.

The landmark rental agreement has now been awarded Let of the Year (North London) by the annual LonRes Awards 2023, which recognises the biggest sales and lettings deals undertaken across the capital.

Designed in the style of a grand Georgian residence, the recently built mansion is located within secure gated grounds, set back off The Bishop’s Avenue; it is set in landscaped gardens, designed by award winning landscape architects Bowles & Wyer and include oak, hazel and willow trees.

Ultra-prime London agent Aston Chase says the mansion was built as part of what it calls “an ultra-exclusive scheme of super-prime houses and apartments with 24-hour concierge by a developer who historically specialised in luxury hotel schemes.”

The property boasts a glass mosaic lined swimming pool, a separate spa pool, a marble-clad ice chute, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and treatment room, home cinema, a clubroom with marble-clad bar and adjoining external courtyard as well as a passenger lift serving all floors .

Aston Chase says that the new tenants were formally based in Kensington and had originally looked at homes in that area, but were unable to find a low-built property with the security, gardens and amenities they required.

Mark Pollack, co-founding director of Aston Chase, says: “This significant lettings deal is one of the most substantial rents ever achieved on The Bishop’s Avenue and underlines both the desirability of [the area] as an internationally recognised address and the quality of the residence itself. The property provides many of the amenities ordinarily found within a luxury hotel which, along with the 24/7 security is what tempted the tenants to relocate from Kensington to Kenwood.”
