Rosalind Renshaw, Editor of Letting Agent Today, would like to wish the LAT community a very happy festive season.

We hope you enjoy the break – you’ve certainly earned it.

There have been many interesting issues to report on this year, including the continued focus on letting agents’ fees, the spotlight on consumer protection regulations (CPR), and, sadly, more letting agents closing down and taking clients’ money with them as successive governments still pig-headedly refuse to bring in the most basic minimum standards.

These, we politely suggest, should be no more than common sense.

If a letting agent does not keep client money ring-fenced, does not have Client Money Protection and does not have Professional Indemnity insurance, then they should not be allowed to set up in the first place, let alone be allowed to continue operating.

Next year, we will see letting agents be compelled to join a redress system and no doubt Shelter will keep up the pressure on fees. We will also start to see whether Help to Buy really does have any impact on tenancy demand.

No doubt there will be plenty to report upon, and I shall be watching with interest.

Thank you very much for reading LAT, for your sparky and often enlightening comments, and may I wish you a prosperous, busy and fulfilling 2014.

sorry anon, I am with Robert, his first message said all that needed saying without announncing anything, but Henry Pryor did tell the world of her departure before Christmas.

It is a poor show that two weeks on no-one has managed to cobble together an announcment and thank Ros for all she has done for Angels.

Not 'appropriate' at all - even if you are privy to the FULL facts. Should have waited until general release.

As Ros's departure from LAT wasn't announced I thought it appropriate to thank her for her efforts.

It hasn't been announced who is replacing her as Editor of EAT and LAT but already neither site has had any update or new news since before Christmas so in my opinion she is already being missed.

It is fairly obvious why Ros would leave quietly and why Mr Daniels wouldn't want it announced but it would have been wrong not to thank her and wish her well after eveything she has done for both sites.

Are you being paid for all these 'sugary' comments? ;>)

    Merry Christmas to you Ros

I would like to thank you for your commitment and the hard work that must be required to research and check stories on a daily basis for both EAT and LAT. To have a fresh batch of content 5 days a week, all delivered before most have reached their desk, must be a truly onerous task and one which does not provide much of a rest at weekends The requirement to keep a moderator's eye on posts can only add to the pressure.

The quality and content of E&LAT are a credit to you and explain why you are so well regarded and respected across the industry.
Have a great Christmas. Thank you for another excellent year of daily news and entertainment.
    Best regards and best wishes
    Robert.
