Countrywide has revealed that it is opening new lettings offices at the rate of ten a month.

Its latest acquisition is north-east letting agent Property Quarters, which has been in business for over 33 years, with branches in North Shields and Whitby Bay.

A retirement sale, the business was founded by James and Maureen Lackie and employs nine staff, who will transfer to Countrywide. The business will continue to trade as Property Quarters.

Margaret Longden, co-managing director of Countrywide Residential Lettings, said: “Property Quarters has always impressed us and we’re proud to have their team on board.

“This acquisition complements our ongoing growth plans in the north-east through both acquisition and organic growth.

“Across the UK we have opened 70 lettings offices in the last seven months and we will look to continue this throughout the year.”

Other recent Countrywide acquisitions include Accord Lets in Birmingham and Leamington Spa, and The Letmore Group which operates six offices in Essex and east London.

Meanwhile, Spicerhaart has also announced ambitious plans to double its lettings division this year, through new starts and acquisitions.
