Mydeposits, the tenancy deposit scheme launched by the National Landlords Association, is holding free workshops for agents this month.

The workshops are aimed at explaining how Alternative Dispute Resolution Process (ADR) works, and the sessions will include case studies plus question and answer sessions.

Suzy Hershman, senior adjudicator at the scheme, said: “Our free workshops provide a fantastic opportunity to get to grips with the overall dispute process and are designed specifically so letting agents can see first-hand how an adjudicator reaches a decision.

“The clear lesson we have learnt is that disputes are won and lost at the beginning, not the end, of the tenancy.

“This means having a thorough inventory and schedule of condition carried out at the beginning of the tenancy, holding on to receipts for any repair work undertaken during the tenancy and keeping a log of all communication with the tenant.”

The first workshop is this afternoon in Liverpool, followed by sessions tomorrow in Manchester and then Leeds on Thursday. Next week’s seminars are in Nottingham and Norwich.
