London estate agents Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward have announced a new partnership with homeless charity Broadway.

KFH is supporting Broadway through fundraising and donations, and also by helping them to source properties for their Private Rented Sector social enterprise, Real Lettings.

Real Lettings acts as a lettings agency, helping formerly homeless people who are ready to live independently to source suitable homes. The properties sourced by KFH will be let out to Real Lettings clients.

Howard Sinclair, Broadway’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted that KFH has chosen to support us. Their knowledge and expertise of the sector will be invaluable to Real Lettings, and we look forward to working closely with them in the future. We believe that Broadway and KFH are a great fit, especially as both organisations are committed to finding homes for Londoners.”

KFH staff have also been volunteering on Broadway’s Outreach shifts, where Broadway go out late at night and early in the morning to engage with people sleeping on the streets.

Gill Powell, KFH lettings manager at Balham, said: “The outreach shift was a real eye-opener and gave me a reality check. It made me realise that what I thought was a hard week for me was nothing compared to what these guys faced on a daily basis.

“They really don’t have a single penny to their name and suffer from all sorts of problems, from mental health, poor upbringing, drugs, drink, etc, yet probably with a bit of guidance and support some of these problems could be resolved.”

Lee Watts, managing director of KFH, said: “We are delighted to be partnered with a charity such as Broadway, and although our organisations are dealing with people in need of homes for many different reasons, we share the common goal of finding them places to live. I am also particularly pleased that a number of KFH staff have volunteered for outreach shifts with Broadway.”

In 2010, Broadway worked with 4,327 people to help get them off the street and into a home. The charity’s lettings arm is keen to hear from London agents that might have suitable rental properties, or can assist in other ways.
