The National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS) is opening its doors to all solicitors operating in lettings and management, with the support of the Law Society.

Caroline Pickering, chair of NALS, said: “We were approached by solicitors who wanted to sign up to NALS, but at that time there was not a defined route for them to become part of the Scheme, despite the fact that all parties could see the very real value.

“By welcoming the Law Society as an NALS affiliated body, we are recognising the regulation compliance that Law Society members must undertake, and this enables them to be fully compliant with NALS criteria.

“Solicitors are now able to sign up to the Scheme in the same way as firms in RICS and ARLA.

“We are delighted to be working so closely with the Law Society, which has welcomed this move as another step towards helping consumers to recognise where they can place their business safely.

“This new partnership gives the consumer a single recognisable kitemark to look for as a beacon for safe and reliable service, and shows what can be achieved when industry organisations work together.”

Law Society President Linda Lee said: “I am pleased that NALS recognises that solicitors who have high professional standards, are regulated, insured and well qualified, can be even more visible under NALS.”
