Landlords and letting agents in Scotland have just a fortnight left in which to protect their final tenants’ deposits.

By May 15, all landlords and letting agents must protect any deposits that were taken from their tenants prior to March 7, 2011, but which are yet to be renewed since deposit protection came into force on July 2 last year.

This is the last key deposit protection date for landlords and letting agents in Scotland.

Unlike in England and Wales, the deposit protection law in Scotland was retrospective when introduced, meaning that it covers deposits that had already been taken.
