Rents have been released for East Village, the former Athletes’ Village at last year’s Olympics.

The rents are pricier than those quoted by the private rents map, an initiative by London mayor Boris Johnson.

At East Village, prices are from £310 per week for a one-bedroom apartment (the rent maps quote £200 to £255 for the Stratford area); £370 a week for two beds (against a range of £260 to £346); and £475 for three beds (against £313 to £430).

The hype, however, has been considerable, and the specification for East Village, including new parklands, has attracted 4,000 potential tenants who registered their interest online despite not knowing the price.

Tenants can also choose to rent the properties furnished or unfurnished, with no difference in cost. Tenants will also pay no fees, whether for admin, check-in or referencing. The scheme, by Get Living London, employs no letting agents.
The properties should be ready for occupation later this year.

just an extra £55 / week rent (£238.33 pcm). Great scheme Boris! Every agent copy this one, if it isn't Rogue for Boris it isn't rogue for our landlords. An extra £28 a month more than covers the cost of referencing and mail merging a tenancy agreement.
