The inquiry into the private rented sector held by the Communities and Local Government Committee is to continue next week.

It has announced sessions for Monday in Leeds, and for Monday week in London.

Those invited to give evidence include representatives from the National Union of Students and the National Landlords Association, plus Sir Robin Wales, mayor of Newham, the London borough which has introduced blanket licensing of every single private landlord.

The cross-party committee is chaired by Labour MP Clive Betts.

Sir Robin Wales is probably quite unaware of the true story of Newham and will be briefed accordingly for the inquiry.
Newham appears to be "Old school" London council, plenty of interest in the problems with lots of staff keeping an eye on them. Problems means jobs, if you know what I mean.
It appears very much as if solutions are as welcomed there as pork chops are welcomed Golders Green
