Consumer mark company SAFEagent, which denotes safe' letting agents covered by Client Money Protection schemes, says it ias surprised and disappointed that the government has not made CMP mandatory.

Housing minister Brandon Lewis recently told SAFEagent that the government had no plan to introduce an amendment to the Consumer Rights Bill to make inclusion in a CMP scheme mandatory for all lettings and management agents.

He chairs the SAFEagent Steering Group which comprises representatives from Belvoir, Countrywide, Foxtons, Hunters, Leaders, Northwood, Spicerhaart, Touchstone, Winkworth and Xperience.
