The average UK rent on newly-let property is now £876 pcm, an increase of 1.7 per cent year-on-year according to the country's largest letting agency chain, Countrywide.

Two and three bedroom newly let properties saw the largest growth in rent, increasing 4.5 per cent and 3.0 per cent respectively year-on-year.

The majority of regions see an increase in rent in February, with Greater London seeing the largest increase, up 8.4 per cent.

The average UK rent for renewed tenancies is now £841 pcm, an increase of 1.9 per cent over the year to February; combined with the data for newly-let properties, this takes the average UK rent for all homes to £838pcm, an increase of 2.2 per cent year-on-year.


Countrywide's index is based on analysis of over 60,000 properties across England, Scotland and Wales.
