All change for Build To Rent as trade group reconstitutes board

The trade body representing the Build To Rent industry wants to recruit people from that sector to sit in its board.

The Association of Rental Living (ARL) was established in 2016 as the UK Apartment Association, describing itself as “connecting suppliers with investors and operators, and generating awareness of the BTR sector.”

The organisation rebranded to the ARL as of March 2024 and now claims to represent all institutionally backed, professionally managed purpose-built rental living sectors including urban and suburban single-family and multi-family rental, co-living and later living.

The ARL is now seeking individuals with what it calls “the strategic vision and experience to shape the future of the wider BTR and Living Sectors”.

The board roles include Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, along with legal and governance directors and special advisors.

The reconstituting of the ARL Board is due to complete by the end of 2024.

The Board of the ARL is responsible for the overall control, governance, and strategic direction of the organisation in representing the sector.

“On behalf of the ARL, I extend my thanks to our current Board Members for their outstanding service in guiding and shaping the organisation since its inception eight years ago” says chief executive Brendan Geraghty.

“The ARL is now perfectly positioned to further shape the living sector moving forward. We are excited to be seeking a range of experts and specialists to join us on that journey, as we implement a clear succession plan for the Board, to build upon the success of the ARL to date and meet the needs of the evolving BTR environment.”
