These politicians (of all parties) couldn't run a beer up in a brewery. If they were running a business instead of country where they can spend money they haven't got and be billions of pounds in debt, they would have gone bust very quickly.

With all the rantings of Shelter, Generation Rent and these so called 'charities' it's like being in the middle of a Monty Python sketch. As long as the Conservative and Labour parties consider that's where the votes are, that's the future!

They're not all locked up yet...or is it April 1st!!!

The Catch 22 we have is this: Even is the disastrous policies of the Conservative government continue or (more likely) worsen, what choice to Landlords have? If their disillusionment of the government makes them switch their vote... who will it be to? The labour party would do exactly the same ...they are both falling over each other to attract the tenants' votes!

Both the Conservative and Labour parties are hell bent on hurting private landlords. They see it as a vote catcher which, of course, it is since it favours far more tenants than there are landlords. They will do a lot of damage and the trouble is, when these ill informed politicians have moved on, the damage they've created will still be there and will be permanent

This isn't surprising. When a country's leaders single out one particular group (in this case - landlords) as being the enemy of the downtrodden (in this case - tenants) the masses will feel they have backing to vent their feelings, however distorted. It's happened before in various countries. What goes through the minds of our politicians when the case they present is almost that all landlords are bad and all tenants are good? What planet do they live on?

That's very generous of him - when is he sending the money through?

It's like a Monty Python sketch. We should line up the people who are doling out these awards so we can see what a bunch of idiots look like.

Seriously - what hope is there for the country when people like these have any influence?

What a chinless wonder this Healey is...It's the same old stuff - 'rogue' landlords and 'good tenants. He wants to get out there and find out how many good landlords and rogue tenants there are. Oblivious to the facts - just wants the votes! Are there any honest and true politicians anywhere that we could admire and respect?

This Tomlinson fellow is reported to have said this ( as above )... “With Universal Credit, payments can be paid directly to the landlord, and we continue to listen to feedback and work with landlords to improve the system. “Landlords can already receive rent from tenants on Housing Benefit and Universal Credit – meaning payments can be paid directly into their accounts. This is what Shelter is stating online are the reasons the tenant has to provide for the rent to be paid directly to landlords... 1) proof you’re in rent arrears or have other priority debts 2) personal issues that make it difficult to budget Is this Tomlinson character guilty here of being disingenuous? He makes it sound as if it's straightforward. Can anyone deny that having a tenant not on benefits is much easier than this. Nothing but trouble! Why complicate the hell out of things! One more thing, it's not only the DSS tenant that can be a problem - sometimes it's the local council when some chinless wonder stops their payment because of some red tape or mistake and they have to re-apply. Best keep it simple!

Can you believe that one woman on benefits took an agent to court on the basis of 'INDIRECT SEX DISCRIMINATION' !!!!! The way they work this out is because more women than men are on benefits. It's like an episode of Monty Python. I wonder if Polly Neate and the other feeble brained individuals at Shelter also invented the Ministry of Funny Walks.

And don't forget to kick every landlord in the nuts for their despicable treatment of these poor tenants who are as pure as the driven snow!!!

We have people in parliament who appear to be incompetent, chinless wonders. They have no idea what it's like at the sharp end and throw around all kinds of destructive , stupid ideas, cause lots of damage then move on to another government department. Trouble is, the damage has been done.

What a bunch of muppets we have running our country! It's reported that 8 out of 10 new households between 2000 and 2015 were immigrants and our government thinks the answer is to build more houses - probably furthering the ridiculous Help to Buy scheme thus swelling the pockets of of fat cat developers (no doubt, their friends). The problem is that incompetents like May and Hammond will come and they will go but the damage they leave behind them will still be there.
