Cash-back sweeteners will be offered to private landlords and others who are the first to sign up to the Green Deal.
Those quickest off the mark could get as much as £1,000.
The offer is on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis and is limited to one per household.
The pot of money is £125m in total, but the preferential rates only last until the first £40m is spent.
It is not altogether clear (nothing about the Green Deal ever is) and implementation of the Green Deal itself does not kick in until January 28.
However, it seems that those who get their skates on now, get work properly accessed, and are in a position to apply, will be in pole position.
