Despite rents rising across the UK, not all tenants struggle to pay up on time.

Romans said its figures don't tally with general fears of a rent debt crisis.

The company - which operates across Berkshire, North Hampshire and Surrey - said that its landlords were also seeing a positive picture with average rent arrears of just 0.92% during 2013.

Peter Fuller, Lettings Managing Director at Romans, said: "Protecting our landlords is central to our lettings services.

"We provide all our customers with the highest levels of financial and legal security to give them peace of mind.

"Although rent arrears via Romans Lettings are so low, we still offer a Rent and Legal Costs Protection Plan to help landlords protect their rent and avoid any problems that occur when a tenant misses one or more payments."
