Technology company Fixflo has upgraded its platform, allowing tenants to report when repairs are needed to their property in any one of 40 languages.

The picture-based system now allows tenants who do not speak English to have their repair requests understood.

Tenants need not have any technical knowledge to use the system, which also records when the requests are made and prompts tenants to provide any further information needed to resolve the issue.

Nearly 1.7m people don’t speak English as a first language in the UK and over 300,000 of them say that they don’t speak English at all or well, according to the 2011 Census.

Rajeev Nayyar, co-founder of Fixflo, said: “We have been delighted with the uptake of our system by letting agencies nationwide.”

We use FixFlo at Holmes Estate Agents in London. While the system itself saves a lot of time, this translation feature has been amazing.

Not only does this keep our many Spanish speaking tenants off the phone, but we have had an increase in tenant referrals.

We're hoping that taking care of landlord properties better than the competition will lead to a measurable USP for new landlords looking for a managing agent in South West London.
