Rents to rise by 12% to 17% by 2019 says high-end agent

High-end estate agent Knight Frank is forecasting that rents will rise by between 12.1 per cent and 17.1 per cent by 2019.

Knight Frank says UK mainstream rents rose an average of 2.0 per cent last year, and with a series of increases above 2.0 per cent each year, the cumulative rise from 2015 up to and including 2019 will be 12.1 per cent.

Meanwhile the prime central London market will show the biggest increase - it will rise 3.5 per cent this year with increases of 3.0 per cent or above for each of the next two years. The cumulative 2015 to 2019 total rise will be 17.1 per cent.

For prime outer London, the increases will be almost as large - a total of 16.8 per cent in the 2015-2019 period.
