Automated access means more short let owners may by-pass agents

A new PropTech device aimed at UK owners of foreign holiday homes allows them to control who enters their overseas property - thus reducing the need to use local letting or vacation agents.

Homeit is a remote access platform which allows owners still in the UK to let tenants, cleaners or tradespeople into their overseas home. It says the technology can be integrated with short let platforms such as Airbnb.

Owners paste their AirBnB listing link on the Homeit dashboard and then generate access codes for their confirmed bookings. These are sent uniquely to the confirmed short let tenants by SMS, email or through AirBnB’s messaging system.

“Homeit works with every door, internal and external, whatever the physical lock. It can be fitted into old or new buildings, and we offer all our customers a free on-site pre-evaluation to guarantee the best solution for every host” claims founder André Roque.

Homeit says its device is already fitted on 350 short lets and can be used by British owners of properties in Portugal, Barcelona and Paris.
