Deposit alternative service launches tool to handle virus arrears

Deposit alternative service Flatfair has launched a tool for letting agents to help administer arrears run up by tenants during the Coronavirus crisis.

The system - called Resolve - is free for agents and Flatfair says it will help the industry deal with post-lockdown problems that emerge.

An agent who has or who anticipates tenants will fall into rent arrears can ask them to upload written evidence of their financial distress on to the platform.

These documents can then be reviewed before an agent or landlord proposes a payment plan. Once the payment plan is agreed, both parties sign the documents electronically.

“As the disruption caused by Covid-19 started to mount across the rental sector, we knew we had to build something that would help landlords not get left behind” says Flatfair chief executive Franz Doerr.

“This is a very uncertain time for landlords, most of whom work extremely hard to provide a good home to their tenants, and now see their livelihood put at risk.

“Resolve will give landlords certainty that they can simply arrange a rental payment plan online with their tenants and electronically sign a legally binding agreement with everything clearly documented.”

There will also be a premium version of Resolve, to be rolled out shortly.
